My passion for science started by reading books by Carl Sagan and Isaac Asimov. I was always interested in Mathematicians and Economists and how they perceived the world. They, along with philosophers like Socrates, Plato, Freud, Iqbal, Marx etc., have been instrumental in shaping our world. It is because of these great thinkers that we have come to the age of micro-chip from the Dark Ages. Just the very thought of how great travelers like Christopher Columbus or Ibn- Batuta could start the discovery of America or Sahara respectively is mind-boggling and inspirational.
Traveling is the most incredible learning experience one can get. More than education, more than training, a person’s level of curiosity will determine who succeeds and who fails. That’s true in the cancer ward, its true in the Olympics, and its true in the boardroom. My parents, especially my father, and my family have been incredible in supporting me in every decision I have taken, whether it be personal or professional. My parents always pushed us to investigate things beyond the norm. The quest to go deeper in finding solutions whether it be to understand the concept of photosynthesis, or how a microchip can store such incredible amount of information, or how we can make our network infrastructure at Schlumberger more efficient drives me every day. Being curious, being inquisitive, being original, being interested is exactly what makes me enjoy my work every single moment.
