When I was a child we lived on a fairly isolated farm. My mother taught me to read, write and count at age 4 before I started school. My parents answered my natural curiosity about nature and things in general and my older brother interested me in science and engineering.

After graduating from the University I joined the drilling fluids business with a plan to stay in it for 2 years before returning to school to become a marine biologist. I found the job and the people involved with it so interesting that I am still in the mud business over 20 years later.

I also enjoy travel, music, reading, scuba diving, motor car racing, basketball and gardening.
