"I value two quotations made by Mahatma Gandhi:

You must not loose faith in humanity. Humanity is an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty.

The only devils in this world are those running around inside our own hearts, and that is where all our battles should be fought."

I was born in Kenya and was raised there up to the age of 14 years. My parents then decided to move over to the UK since education for their children was high up on their list. As a kid it made me sad to leave all my friends behind and leave the beautiful country. However coming to UK made me realize how different the world can be. I saw the snow for the first time and experienced good transport, good hospitals, good schools and the standard of living. Everything seemed better than what I had experienced in my young days and I realized how privileged I was. This changed me as a person and I understood the meaning of the word “opportunity” at a young age. I was given the opportunity to study, enjoy different life style and experience the world. During my University days I opted to do my work experience abroad and visit various parts of the world during vacation to build my experience. Once I left the University, got married and had 3 children my life got busy but my desire and drive to contribute to the underprivileged never faded.

My job with Schlumberger for 20 years has taken me to all parts of the world and has made me realize that there are many more needy people out there than myself.

I have taught Gujarati to children during the weekends. I conducted a SEED water project workshop in Bombay in 2004 and in Baroda in 2005. I also helped to setup the SEED project at Girls Perse School in Cambridge.

This in itself has been education for me.

I have therefore endeavored to inspire and do what I can for the underprivileged in this world.
