I was born in an old small city called YongZhou in South China
and spent my first 16 years of happy and smooth life there.
Ive been always interested in knowing about the world
outside the small town, what people are doing across those
mountains and seas. As time went by, books and TV were not
enough. I wanted to see, to experience. Finally when for the
first time I had a chance to leave home, I got on the fully
packed train towards my first destination Beijing.
This first traveling took 11 years.
The first four years were a new life experience, to live in
a college dormitory together with seven girls who spoke different
dialects, and for the first time in my life I saw the machine
called Computer. In high school I had loved history
and geology, and I was my English and chemistry teachers
favorite student. But in the end, computer science became
my lifetime career and I started the endless struggle of finding
the balance between perfection and efficiency.
The next four years I became a software engineer in a telecommunication
company, seeing and experiencing the dramatic changes in China.
At the end of these four years Schlumberger opened a brand
new R&D center in Beijing. The day when China was celebrating
Hong Kongs return, I started my new career at the Schlumberger
Beijing Product Site as a software engineer working on the
geomechanical applications with engineers and experts who
spoke different languages.
It was a very good experience of learning, hard work and meeting intelligent people. It opened my eyes to a much bigger world. After three years, I crossed the Pacific Ocean, flying from Beijing to Houston. Since then five years have passed in a blink.
Outside work I like to read non-Computer Science books. I
appreciate all sorts of music as long as it touches me. I
enjoy different kinds of sports as long as they can make me
forget about myself and to try my best. I love traveling,
hiking and camping, to experience different natures, places
and cultures.
