I am originally from Queens, NY and moved to Houston, TX
in 1998 after graduating with my PhD in computer science,
specializing in computer graphics and virtual reality. I was
first exposed to computers in high school (a BASIC course),
never thinking that I would make a career out of it. However,
since I love doing puzzles and problem solving, I quickly
realized that my computer science classes were a lot of fun
and I was disappointed when they were over. I decided to double
major in computer science and mathematics for my BS at Adelphi
University. At Adelphi, I started doing research with a physics
professor. We published a paper and I interned for 2 summers
at Brookhaven National Laboratory. I enjoyed research and
giving talks at conferences, so a PhD was the next logical
step for me. I went to SUNY Stony Brook for my PhD and was
funded by the NSF for my work, which was recently awarded
a patent.
Schlumberger was my first full time job after school. I
started out as a Senior Software Engineer and am currently
a Project Lead. My first project was with GeoViz, which is
a 3D visualization application. I currently am in a Collaboration
group and we are working on real time visualization solutions
from rig to office. I am still involved in publishing and
giving presentations, and also do recruiting for Schlumberger.
