As part of the SEED feature Women in Science & Engineering, Nabha gave the following answers to questions about how she came to work in the world of science.

Question: What do you enjoy most about your job?

Answer: Sometimes while developing the software, we come across problems that are hard to solve. You have to think really hard and come up with solutions. Sometimes you brainstorm with your colleagues to come up with solutions. Tackling the tough problems is what I enjoy the most. Also, I enjoy working with a team of really good people and being given a lot of responsibility for the product.

Q: What impact has your choice of career had on your family life?

A: The key to being successful at work and having a balanced life, where you can do fun stuff as well as work, is time management. You have to learn to identify the important things and priortize accordingly. This is true for life in general and becomes even more important when you are trying to balance a career and a family. I am married and my husband and I are happy together. My husband is an engineer too and we have a great time discussing our work problems and helping each other.

Q: What advice would you share with young female scientists today?

A: Stop thinking of yourself self as a 'female scientist' and think of yourself as a 'scientist'. If you enjoy science and mathematics, do not hesitate to pursue it as a career because you are female. You can do it, too! Have a clear goal, have an attack plan to reach that goal and consistently work towards that goal.
